OPTIBLANKS: Hybrid EMAT-Vision solution for OPTIMISATION of advanced manufacturing process of automotive tailor welded BLANKS

Through Optiblanks Project, Innerspec Technologies will overcome the limitations of automotive TWB manufacturing process weld quality control with a novel hybrid technology approach. This new inspection system will enable 100% inspection of laser welded parts to identify defects such as porosity, lack of penetration, lack of side wall fusion, etc...

Innerspec, as a global leader in Automotive TWB inspection using EMAT technology, will remain in the leading edge with the introduction of the next generation of systems.

Innerspec will collaborate with automotive TWB manufacturers during validation, testing and installation of the OPTIBLANKS technology into their production environments.

SPMRail Project: Portable Residual Stress Measurement of Rail Wheels

Innerspec Technologies has developed the first, portable, battery-operated handheld instrument that can be used to provide rail-side inspections and facilitate operation in any environment. The instrument is coupled with a proprietary, patent-pending, dual-channel sensor that does not need to be rotated during inspection thus simplifying the operation, increasing the reliability and accuracy of results, and reducing complexity and inspection cycle time.

This technology is the result of a National Research and Development project supported by the Spanish CDTI. Project Number: IDI-20160155

SOJA Project: Slab Surface Cracks Detection using EMAT Technology

The aim of the project is to maximize the efficiency of the steel continuous casting production process by developing an integrated solution which let slab manufacturers predict, detect and avoid defects in advanced stages of the process.

Innerspec Technologies is validating the effectiveness of a novel inspection solution capable of detecting surface and subsurface cracks in slabs using EMAT technology.

This technology is been developed through a collaborative Research and Development project in collaboration with ArcelorMittal España, Universidad de Oviedo and additional SMEs leader in offering integration solutions within industrial environments.

Alexandría Project: New EMAT Applications in Aerospace and Rail Sector

In Alexandría Project, Innerspec Technologies developed new inspection procedures and specific EMAT instrumentation which targeted the improvement of conventional techniques for cracks detection such as X-Ray or Magnetic Particle Analysis. These techniques show operational difficulties and safety hazards in contrast with EMAT technology.

Through this project, Innerspec validated the advantages of using EMAT technology in the following areas:

  • Rail wheel and axle surface and subsurface crack detection.
  • Inspection of aerospace welds subject to extreme operational conditions (Inconel) using EMATs
This technology is the result of a National Research and Development project supported by the Spanish Ministry of Science and Competitiveness.
